problems with capturing the face

Post by Alessia8086 »

Hi to all, we are facing some problems we think related to the settings we use to capture ( standard ).
for some reason our area of capturing ( we are capturing the face ) jiggle a lot, we got some major flickering on the face, we've try to tweek the basic settings but we still got plenty of those, someone have some good tips to avoid that flickering on the markers, maybe some tips for the enviroments too? should we work only with artificial light? we should have soft boxes? thanks for any help.

Hello -

Some basic tips would be to watch the 2d camera view for objects that show up that are not markers. If you have an abundance of them, switch to mjpeg mode to locate the source. If the source is the face of the subject, try to eliminate any possible sources of halogen or sunlight, then adjust your camera exposure and intensity. If you need further tuning, try adjusting your threshold as well.

It may make sense to have a dark cloth backdrop behind the actor if there is anything in the area behind them, as well.

Also, in the display tab of the settings pane, you can select to view tracked and untracked rays. Untracked rays will appear as red lines from the camera to wherever it is seeing a valid marker that other cameras don't see. Any source of persistant untracked rays should be investigated as a source of interference. You can also select a single marker and view tracked rays for it. A very precise calibration will have all tracked rays converging on the same or close to the same point within the marker. A looser calibration will have the rays intersecting in odd spots in the marker.

would love to hear the follow up on this from you guys at natural point after you look at what Alessia has sent you. I have noticed a lot on this forum that you ask for data but never come back on to thread to tell others what you have found. It would be very useful information to all of us.
Thanks.
