ground plane Z direction reverses

Post by raboyd »

I am using Tracking Tools version 2.3.2. After I calibrate the ground plane and create a trackable, I notice the real-time z position of the tracking object reverses, i.e. what I thought was the positive z direction as indicated by the OptiTrack calibration square is now the negative z direction. The origin of the ground plane is correct.

How do I correct this?

Thanks,

Robert

Our ground plane apparatus effectively describes a left handed coordinate system. However, our software is right handed. As a result there is an inversion of Z values from what you would expect via the ground plane. Just assume that your ground plane is pointing down -Z and it should make sense for you.

It's likely that our ground planes will be right handed in the future as we've decided to use right-handed coordinates for our software moving forward.
