Deleting markers for C3D export

We have some old trials that were recorded that have a lot of flickering markers coming in and out during the recording period for some reason or other (our recent trials rarely have this problem). When we go to export the flickering files as a C3D file, we run into some problems because the maximum marker count is exceeded. Is there anyway to delete markers recorded at specific times? This could be done in a few different ways -

1) Any markers that are recorded but are not apart of the rigid bodies could be deleted (OK, unless separate markers are actually being used)
2) delete markers that are only visible for a small defined time period (e.g. 5 frames, OK unless the tracking of the markers in rigif bodies is not great and these markers also flicker)
3) select markers individually or a specific volume area where flickering 'markers' show up but cannot be part of the tracked objects
