Tracking Tools will not install

Post by JohnHardy »

Hey there,

I am trying to install the Tracking Tools package and the installer gets past the driver and the file type association and then just sits there with a blue bar at 100%. This continues for hours!

When I eventually get bored of waiting and end the task, it says that a remote procedure call failed.

I've tried compatibility modes, administrator settings, changing install paths etc etc but nothing seems to help.

If any of you have any ideas they would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

What would be helpful is if you could capture a screen recording of the install process and send that along with the "installlog.txt" to support@naturalpoint.com

You can usually find the installlog.txt file in one of the following folders :
C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\OptiTrack
C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\OptiTrack

If you don't have screen recording software then you can find a free application here :

Is the computer part of a domain or other managed environment?
Does the account you are running the installer from have administrative access?
Does right clicking on the install package and selecting "Run as administrator" make any difference?

Nope.

Yep.

Nope.

I've tried all the basic things like that. I've system restored to a time before the first install attempt and tried again with an older version and that didn't work either. Very strange indeed... I mean it copies most of the files over but doesn't write the license registry keys because when I attempt to run the activate program it says it can't find them.

I've tried installing by removing all the selectable components and the installshield is still hanging right at the end.
