TrackingTools utilizing graphics card?

Post by vrlabra » Wed Jul 27, 2011 1:16 pm

Hi,
I noticed that TrackingTools is using Nvidia 3D-graphics cards for tracking (probably CUDA?). I was just wondering can it utilize also AMD (ATI) graphics cards like Radeon series? I didn't find this information anywhere from your website.

Also is it possible to change which GPU TrackingTools is using (GPU affinity)?

How do you mean it's using the nVidia card for tracking?

Tracking Tools will render properly on modern nVidia and ATI cards equally well. There is no way within Tracking Tools to set a GPU affinity.

I assumed that TrackingTools is using GPU for tracking because there's 6-10% GPU load (in older version over 20%) from TrackingTools software even if it's hidden from the screen (=NOT RENDERING). And with term tracking I meant that for manipulating camera images to extract the tracked points from them.

The real question was that how effective is it to use ATI cards with your TrackingTools compared to Nvidia. I think CUDA is naturally much more optimized for Nvidia cards. So if you're using CUDA in your software Nvidia cards are faster. Of course I cannot know what programming language you have been using for utilizing GPU's in tracking...
