Motive to Linux

Post by monashminion »

Hi,

I've done a bit of reading and found similar topics to my problem.

Currently I have:
1. Linux computer running ROS packages to fly a quad copter
2. Windows computer with Motive installed.

I understand that there are no official linux supported programs.

I am wondering if users have been able to either:
a. Run a Linux based 'motive' program equivalent to directly read the data from the camera's (without the use of a windows pc)
b. Run Motive on Windows and stream data to Linux - How so?

Hello monashminion,

We do not provide any Motive based applications for Linux, but you do have the option of running Motive on a Windows machine and streaming into Linux. This would require some development, as our NatNet SDK is not developed for Linux but can be adapted for it.

I am providing a link to a sample Linux application that utilizes the NatNet SDK. Please note that this is not an official piece of work from our engineers and this is not officially supported. This was provided by another user who was willing to share this as a starting point for people hoping to develop in Linux.

Hello miawan1,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding streaming to Linux.

We now have versions of our NatNet SDK available for Ubuntu and Fedora. These can be found in our Downlaods page.

We hope you find these to be useful!

Best,
Steven

Hello,

I've managed to get Motive to work on a windows VM in an ubuntu PC. My optihub v2 is recognized and appears in the devices pane, but my Flex13 cameras, although they're being recognized, don't appear in the devices pane, and just create an error message "Flex13 cameras should be connected through an optihub v2" (my cameras ARE connected this way). This setup works on my original windows pc, so I don't really get where this error is coming from.
When I launch the camera SDK visualtest app, I have a feed.
Do you have a fix? Or even an idea of where the issue is stemming from?

Thanks!
Jeremie
