Round center deadzone?

Post by spmoore93 »

This would fix everything I don't like about TrackIR but I can't find the option, and I don't think it's possible to set this up with the current graph system.

Basically I want a spherical deadzone so I can rest my head naturally without the game moving at all. This makes aiming with your weapon or lining up a shot with aircraft easier because the weapon or aircraft's hud is solid and centered, where it should be in a game. (My opinion :))

You can do that now, but...

The problem I have with the current system is the deadzone follows along the entire x or y axis. So if you have your head looking right and you look up and down it stops in the center and feels unnatural. Or if you look up at the sky and decide to look left, there will be a pause at the start due to the deadzone.

I drew a little picture in paint even though I think it's a pretty simple concept. :)

*Maybe even make it a 3D deadzone? (Sphere)

Ps; If there is something that does this, great! But I didn't find anything so that's why I'm posting to see if I missed it.

Spot deadzone is something we've been looking at doing, however at the moment we're not sure if it will be in an upcoming version of TrackIR.

Oh man. Are you telling me I just spent 170 dollars on a piece of hardware that's the size of my thumb just for a newer version to come out shortly afterwards. :o

No, no. Spot deadzone would be a software upgrade, those are always free.

I assumed that, but what you said made it sound like TrackIR 6 is coming out soon(or something equivalent) which disappointed me a little. ;)

You know how it is when you buy something and something better comes out 2 seconds later. I'm having a bit of that feeling.

You can rest easy. There's no plans currently on the table for a TrackIR 6. It's hard enough to find a way to improve on the 5 as is :)
