How to set center view lower
How to set center view lower
When flying I would like to lower my seat in FSX (which I do) but when I hit the center button in TrackIR it goes back to original position. Is there a way to set it so it will stay where I set it?Thanks,Ron
Re: How to set center view lower
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\ ..... your plane\ aircraft.cfg
the views section , if its not present just write it at the bottom
The following parameter define the pilot's viewpoint.(center) eyepoint.
Position relative to datum reference point.
Aircreation582SL( eyepoint=-0.205052,0.000000,3.604314 )
Boeing 747-400( eyepoint = -18.55, -1.97, 10.7 )
Beech Baron 58( eyepoint = -8.213, -0.8612, 2.220 )
longitudinal, lateral, vertical.
zoom
Zoom the view in or out from the viewpoint.
Default( zoom=1.0 )
example
[views]
eyepoint=48.2, -1.35, 1.7
zoom=1.0

Re: How to set center view lower
rpowers46,
caseystef is correct. When you center the TrackIR you are telling it that where you are located is the best place to read the your movements from. It will then tell FSX that where you are is where the pilots viewpoint should be. In order to change where it centers you, you will have to tell it that the pilots viewpoint is somewhere else.

Re: How to set center view lower
Hello,
Unfortunately, all except for the following two points, I too have been having this same basic annoying issue (i.e. with pilots viewpoint) with my new TrackIR 5:
(1) My flight simulator is X-Plane 10.35.
(2) The pilots viewpoint (centered) in the cockpit of my Cessna 172 is always too low, which always keeps the upper half of the windshield hidden from pilots view while it is centered. However, out of desperation, as a temporary workaround, I have 'physically' elevated my viewpoint by sitting on a chair that has longer legs, thus eliminating the need for me to extend my neck upwards.
Can someone please tell me which (X-Plane) file needs to be updated, and with what data?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Joe Todaro

jstodaro,
From what I remember you can go into Planemaker, then open the Standard, Viewpoint menu. Inside you will see 3 values (long/lat/vert arm pilot's viewpoint) which you can change.
Here is the PDF for plane maker: http://www.x-plane.com/files/manuals/Pl ... manual.pdf

Perfect!
Just what I needed to know - thanks Mike!
My pilots cockpit view is now exactly where I need it to be for my Cessna 172SP.
