TrackIR5 from 2011 still work?

I have an old TrackIR about 7 years old. It is the trackIR 5
Will it work just as well as the new trackIR 5?
In other words.. is the hardware the same and all I will have to do is get the updated software?
I want new technology but trying to have to spend for a new one.
