Understanding Profiles vs Templates

Not sure I fully understand how I use Profiles vs Templates...even after going over the manual several times. I created a unique profile for my use and then went into the Templates area and modified some curves and created a new Template name for it. But when I start up TrackIR the next time it shows the default "One on One" template in the name...but the curve seems to be the one I saved previously.
My questions are:
- Does my custom Template automatically load each time I start TrackIR or do I need to choose it with each start up?
- Does the Profile I save include the Template that was in use when I saved the Profile?
I also can't find a way to save a change to an existing custom Template...I have to save it with a new name...is this correct.
