My TIR 5 has done exactly the same. Conveniently outside of warranty. I barely used it for 10 hours.

None of the solutions in this thread have helped, the TIR is just dead. I've tried on 3 different PCs.

I'm done with NaturalPoint.

Mr. Chris Johnson, the response to naturalpoint customers regarding the tracker remains unanswered. read the messages above, you will see that the hardware and software of each are different but the problem is the same.

My issue was the software would not fully open, just a white window and the program would stop responding.

Step 6 did it for me! that's all it took.

Just bought TrackIR 5. It worked one day and then camera stop catching Pro Clip sensors. It is still working and can track regular lamp as a red blot, but it is useless now. I tried to reinstall according to the link below, but it didnt work:
