TrackIR will not start, crashes on startup.

I have tried uninstalling, administrator mode, deleting the settings.xml, etc and nothing works. It worked fine then suddenly it doesn't work anymore.

I installed the previous version of the nVidia driver (v516.40) and TIR works again.

This worked FOR ME to get back up and running...hopefully this helps some peeps... :P

My system:
MoBo: ASRock X299 TaiChi
Proc: i9 10980EX
Ram: 24GB ram
Drive: 4TB (2 X 2TB M.2 Drives Striped)
Vid: EVGA NVIDA 3080Ti
OS: Win10 Pro

Completely uninstall TrackIR 5 (including NaturalPoint USB Drivers x64 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) - 12.0.30501)

Go here: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/di ... nload.html

Install DDU and run it in save mode - click "Options" in the upper left.

In the DDU options, uncheck (if it's checked) the box "Prevent downloads of drivers from 'Windows Update' when 'Windows' search for a new device" (uncheck the box at the bottom of the DDU options before running the uninstall).

Close the options the click the "Clean and restart" button at the top.

DDU will uninstall NVIDIA drivers and reboot.

Wait for Windows to identify and install it's crappy 2019 NVIDA driver.

Reinstall latest TrackIR software (including drivers removed above - this should happen by default).

It all started working again. I'm hoping this is temporary. Not at ALL ideal to have such and old driver.

*** If I reinstall the latest NVIDIA drivers at this point, the TrackIR will once again "go dark" and the TrackIR software will no longer launch.

I really love this head tracker. Until now, It's been amazing! Pretty disappointing to discover this product's "newest" drivers date back to 2015 considering how much it costs.

I'm going to try and research what is the "newest compatible" NVIDA driver. I'll post back if I find it. Apologies if someone has already done this...

NP has been aware of this issue since June 28th, but done nothing about it. Trust me, I've tried. The Nvidia drivers posted that day somehow broke Track IR for some of us.

Latest hotfix of Nvidia drivers still broken with TRIR5....79 hotfix.

Notice how not one dev has even bothered to comment on you event viewer logs. They have washed their hands of Track IR as far as supporting it goes. Look how old their drivers are. Too bad, as I've used Track IR for a long, long time, but will begin shopping for an alternative.

Hey all,

Sorry to hear about your bad experience getting a response on TrackIR5 issues. We tried to reproduce the crash with NVDIA Graphic Driver v516.59 (Release Date 06/28/2022). However, after trying over six different graphics cards we are still unable to reproduce the issue. Do you have any more information you could share with us? (For example, a picture of your TrackIR, serial number, graphics card version, when exactly does the program crash, Windows version, are you using a TrackClip or TrackClip Pro, etc?)

Graphics cards we tested with...
RTX 3060
RTX 2080
RTX 2070
GTX 1060
A4000
A2000

I see an RTX 3080Ti in one comment. Is that what everyone is using or is that just the only listed graphics card?

I have 2 Track IR 5..neither works. RTX 2070, program crashes on startup, using track clip, Win 11 (latest update).
