Beta version crash
Re: Beta version crash
Software is crashing without the camera plugged in?
Using either the 5.0 software, or the 4.1 software?
Have you tried closing all other applications in the background?
Hi. I'm out of country at the moment. I'll try more tests when I'm back home in a few days.

What OS are you using?
What other applications do you have runing in the background?
I am using Windows XP SP3 32bit.
It has nothing to do with applications running in the background: as i said i tried it on a clean windows installation.
I think it has something to do with the hardware. a friend of mine got the excat same PC that i got...and we both own Track IR 5. he got the exact same problems. We both run trackir 5 with compatibility mode on....that works so far. (windows NT for me....i think he uses windows 2000 mode).
there are 2 things, we got all in common:
- Asus P5B DELUXE
- Intel Core 2 duo E6600 4MB L2 Boxed Skt775
Hope that helps.

Re: Beta version crash
Got the same problem. I'm running on XP SP3, TrackIR5, Q6600 and a HD4800. V4 works perfectly for me, all V5 beta versions crash when I open them.
Edit: NT compatability mode seems to work for me too.

Re: Beta version crash
Sorry for the long wait in reporting back, hope you didn't hold your breath in the meantime
I'm not in reach of my pc yet, I should be back in a few more days for additional Beta-tests.

This sounds like an interesting point...

Re: Beta version crash
Similar problem here, V5B3/XPProSP3/TrackIR5 crashes on launch 99,9 (just not 100%) of the time. Starting it up without it crashing was like finding the amulet of Yendor in nethack, if that gives you an idea of how often it will crash
I initially suspected a compatibility problem with Saitek USB drivers as it appeared to not crash with the saitek drivers uninstalled. V4 installed on the same box runs fine.
Problem has been reported to naturalpoint support which ran me through necessary and understandable (but mildly annoying) standard questions (background apps, usb hub). Yes of course XP runs background processes, yes of course I have the camera on a hub chain. My USB bus is quite stable, you see, and why does it work with V4, then . No sorry I cannot set up a single tasking system with a single root usb port just for V5B3
Anyway, thanks to this thread, I tried to set V5B3 to NT4SP5 compatibility mode. As a workaround, this does it for me: V5B3 runs perfectly stable now even with saitek usb present. I am really happy now because V5 is such an improvement over V4 imho

Re: Beta version crash
Same problem here.
My System:
WIN XP 32 SP3
CORE 2 DUO E8500
GIGABYTE GA EP45
ATI 4870 Videocard
latest drivers in use
no usb hub
Works perfectly under WIN VISTA 64 SP2 partition.
Until I get TRACK IR5 i used the TRACK IR3 without Vector Expansion.

Re: Beta version crash
I finally got home and did a quick test with the debug version. Results are the same (crashes everytime).
I've sent an email with debug details to Morgan.
