Head turn to the right = flipout.

Post by TVGi »

Hello All,

I seem to have an issue looking all the way to the right, once I hit a certain point, that trackIR flips . This does not happen when turning all the way to the left.

I made a video to explain my issue that much easier.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell completely, but are you using the TrackClip, or the TrackClip Pro?

Do you have the TrackIR camera mounted to the left side of your monitor, or in the center?

I am using the TrackClip PRO good sir.

Here is a top down view of my setup.

Note: I do not have the TrackIR placed ontop of my monitor since I do sit 4 to 5 inches below the top of my screen. I thought It would have issues reading, so I put it on the desktop.

Generally you are going to want it as even as possible, with the TCP. My guess is as your head is moving left/right, the camera is lossing track of the IR points, hence the erratic movement.

I will Mcgyver a stand in front of my monitor when I get off work so I will have it the same level as my head and try to trouble shoot it that way.

I don't believe it is loosing connection as the left light on the Track IR stay lit. I noticed if my hand goes In front of the TCP then that light would go out.

Is there steps to trouble shoot a reflecting issue? Such as turning off all the lights or such?

Generally, if it is picking up other IR points, the camera should see it. You can then proceed to move your hand, if front of the camera view, and determine where the extra IR maybe coming from.

Ok, i am having the EXACT same problem as TVGi. Though, it does the same for me in both movement to the right as movement upwards.

Just to confirm i am using an TrackIR 5 whit Track Clip Pro.
The camera is NOT picking up any IR sources apart from the track clip.
When the camera "flips" it still sees and displays all the three
IR leds from the track clip.

Movement to the left and down dont have this issue, if i move the
leds beyond the camera's Field of View the movement just stops
instead of flipping around.

Could it be an corrupted install or maybe an defective camera sensor?

Cheers, Falcon

Oh, i just got my TrackIR yesterday and its the 1st one i have
ever had so its not unlikely i am doing something obvious wrong.

Are the points crossing over each other, as you look right/up?

Nope, they are not crossing over each other. Just checked.
If you take a look at the following thread you can see some screenshots of what the camera is seeing when looking;
Straight ahead
Max right whitout flipping
Max right whit flipping

TrackIR camera moved to the left side of the monitor?

Can you center the TrackCLip pro, in the camera view a little more?
