Hi! Battlefield 3 seem to have simultaneous use of joystick and mouse, in case you wanna switch to flying a jet while running around in the game.
Could this meen that headtracking somehow - via joystick assignment - could be used at the same time as aiming with the mouse, while playing the game as first person shooter?
Do I need TrackIr for this, or is a webcam enough?

If you can map a joystick hat switch to the freelook feature, it might be possible to use TrackIR + PPJoy to control the view independent of mouse control.
A better solution would be DICE integrating our API, which would provide explicit head tracking support. This might or might not happen, but they have expressed interest. We'll be hitting them up again shortly.
If they do integrate the TrackIR API, it is designed to work with TrackIR hardware and software, not a webcam.
