Record video

Post by Yan Zhang »

Hi guys,

I wonder if Optitrack can record the moves of rigid bodies to a video just as the way I see them in the perspective view window in Motive. I mean I just want to see a video where there is a black background and grids, and rigid bodies moving in the scene and maybe some other white markers. I don't want to see a video of real scene.

Does this affect tracking data? I want to use Optitrack to track rigid bodies and control them meanwhile taking the video.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hello Yan,

Thank you for submitting this question.

Motive is capable of exporting reference video that was recorded through one of the OptiTrack cameras. Unfortunately, there are no methods for exporting the 3D perspective out of Motive.

The OptiTrack cameras can be used either to record reference video or tracking data. They are not capable of recording both.

There are applications available, online, that would allow you to record your desktop's display as a video. I do not know how this would affect your tracking data, but it is possible that the video recording applications would use enough resources to degrade the tracking quality or increase latency.

I hope this information helps. If you require any further assistance, please feel free to open a Support ticket with us at help.naturalpoint.com

Best regards,
Steven

Hey Zhang,

https://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.html

I have used it myself, while tracking live with no discernable problems.

I hope this helps!
