Can rigid body orientation be set with respect to an axis?

Post by drone.mcmaster »

Hello all,

I have been working with Motive and streaming the data of rigid bodies using NatNet SDK. I was wondering if there is a way to set the rotation of a rigid body with respect to a central set of axis, rather than in relation to how the rigid body was positioned upon creation. I would greatly appreciate any insight.

Thanks, Ian

Hello Ian,

Thank you for posting your question.

When the rigid body is first created it will always be aligned with the global origin.
We suggest initially paying attention to the origin axes and orienting your rigid body to them. When the rigid body is created, you will then know what the local axes are.

After this, you can adjust the rigid body's orientation using the Transformation tool.
You can find some information on adjusting the pivot point's position and orientation here.
