How do I change the marker order within a created markerset?

Post by tobi.kenobi »

Hello,

Question

How do I reorganize the markers in a custom markerset, under Assets of the Project Pane in Motive?

Labeled Markers are Unordered

I created a markerset for a take and named all the unlabeled markers but they are listed in a random order, (i.e. LTM5 (LeftToeOut) is at the top and is proceeded by RUPA (RightUpperArm)). Ideally I want to have the head markers start at the top OR have the list start with left markers and then succeed with right markers.

Purpose

To have an organized custom markerset in Motive and in MotionBuilder via export of FBX(ascii)/C3D.

Hello tobi.kenobi,

Currently, there is no way to change the order of the label list after creating a MarkerSet. The only way to control the order would be to create the labels in the order you want them.

To make this simple, I opened notepad and made a simple list of marker names.
- - Top
- - Mid 1
- - Mid 2
- - Mid 3
- - Bottom

I then copied and pasted the list into my MarkerSet in Motive. This created a label list that was the order I wanted.

We will be expanding the MarkerSet feature, soon, so reordering the label list may be possible in the near future.

Best,
Steven

Ah, I see. Tedious but that is a nice work around. I will do this instead of selecting the unlabeled marker first; hence, my current random order.

MarkSet Roadmap Request

.Re-ording, would be quite helpful for users
.Copying ability of a MarkSet onto to another take would save a lot of time. User's have recreate MarkSets for every take, atm, from what I know so far

Thanks for the Notepad tip, Steven!

My pleasure!

One last thing. You can drag and drop a MarkerSet from the Asset pane onto other Takes. This should allow you to take the asset from one Take to another without having to recreate it. As long as the Takes are in the same project.

Cheers,
Steven

I tried the drag and drop of the MarkerSet on to the next take. Sweet heaven, that's convenient! Thank you! :D
