Bounding region per rigid body

Post by yutingaling » Wed May 16, 2018 8:59 am

Is it possible to set a bounding region specific to an individual rigid body? I am dealing with label swapping of two very small rigid bodies (~20 x 12 mm sized parts), but their paths never overlap so I am looking for a solution to this problem.

Hi yutingaling,

It sounds like you may want to use the Rigid Body Assisted Labeling. You can find more information regarding this in our online documentation.

Hi Steven,

I've actually read all of the documentation quite thoroughly, but am still unclear on whether or not there is a way to set separate bounding regions for two different rigid bodies.

To clarify, I am trying to track mice via fixed structures on their heads. Two mice will be tracked in separate containers, i.e. their paths should never overlap. Since I am occasionally experiencing swapping of rigid body labels, I'd like to set bounding regions for each mouse separately. That way, the system will unable to swap labels. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks yutingaling,

The bounding area for the rigid body assisted labeling cannot be set per rigid body, but is a setting that will apply to all rigid bodies. It will define an area around the rigid body to which the smaller prediction radius can be applied. This is typically done to help prevent trajectory swapping on markers in close proximity to each other.

If you are having problems with the rigid body tracking itself, the assisted labeling will not help with this. If the rigid bodies are swapping for each other, for example, the marker patterns may be too similar and may need to be differentiated better. If markers are swapping within the rigid body itself, try to make sure the marker pattern is not symmetric.

Cheers,
Steven
