Rigid-Body Frame Alignment to Normal Vector of Plane

Post by carolineyancey »

So I have a large plane (1.5 x 1.5 m) that I am hoping to track at a very high accuracy (sub-millimeter accuracy). I have placed markers on the surface in a symmetrical pattern and created a rigid body for it in motive. Since the rigid body software cannot align its frame normal to my plane unless the plane is placed perfectly parallel to my ground plane, I would like to use and API or Matlab script to determine the frame that corresponds to the normal vector of the plane. I was wondering if a script that would work for me already existed.

Does anybody have any suggestions to help out? I have attached a quick sketch of my plane with the fiducial placement.
