Rigid body vs Skeleton tracking

Post by vr654@york.ac.uk »

Hello,

Hope you are doing well. I am new to OptiTrak and my lab has a license for rigid body tracking and not skeletal tracking. For my research I plan to collect marker based data and feed it into OpenSim. For this particular pipeline, does it make a difference whether you track a human as a combination of rigid bodies or using the skeleton assest? Does the skeleton assest have some internal algorithm which ensures that the data is constrained for possible human motions?

Since OpenSim has a skeletal model and just takes in tracker movements, does it make a difference?

Thanks,
