roll playing mouse support?

Post by rob2 » Fri Aug 27, 2004 4:04 am

Just wondering, would IL3 work with games, such as Call of Duty, Myst, Half Life, etc. that use a mouse to look around and still be able to use the actual mouse to shoot, pick objects, etc.?

If not, are any of these games planning on supporting IR3? ...all I have seen is flight sims mentioned here.

Also, can IR3 be setup to have a profile, much like a joystick, so that older games, like RedBaron3d, which don't use a mouse to look (uses keys) can be set up?

Thanks, sorry if this has been asked before.

rob2,

TrackIR3 will work in most games that support the mouse look feature. There are alos other utilities that work in these games such as TrackMapper, PPJoy and TR2Joy, these will allow you to configre and map keys.

If not, are any of these games planning on supporting IR3? Yes, but we are not in a position to say anything just yet, but we do have some very exciting titles for the future.

All these links can be found on our website.

Also, can IR3 be setup to have a profile, much like a joystick, so that older games, like RedBaron3d, which don't use a mouse to look (uses keys) can be set up? Yes, by using PPjoy which is a virtual joystick.

Just to clarify ... does this mean we can (in supported games) use keys for moving, mouse for aiming/shooting and be able to use TrackIR to look in another direction to the mouse/shooting.aiming?

i.e. Shoot in one direction whilst looking in another direction (and potentially moving in yet another using keys)?

Piddy,

If the game is supported in Enhanced mode and the developer has included this mode then YES.

Cool. I've just email Gabe .. he says he's going to delay Half Life 2 just once more to add proper Enhanced support.

A friend sent me this URL for a Keyboard emulator for TrackIR EnhancedMode:
http://kaf.tri6.net/trackmapper/

The guy that developed it uses it with WWII Online, so it must work.

I don't have TrackIR yet, but some one might want to try this and see if it works
