I've only got one question...

Will Battlefield 2 (EA and DICE) be TrackIR Enhanced???

If so, i'm buying the vector expansion...

We certainly want it to be. We have been trying to get into this game for month's now.

DICE is very hard to get time of day from right now (because BF2 will sell many millions of units, and we aren't at that level yet).

I think the biggest problem is (as always) : it's hard to convince new developers that we aren't a lame plastic VR helmet. People got burned by the lame plastic VR helments of the 90s, and don't want to listen when we explain the we are actually precise and don't require a headset.

Anyway,
The best way to get TrackIR Enhanced support into BattleField2 is to post about it everywhere and raise BF fan awareness. if enough customers ask for it, DICE will implement it.

Thanks for that answer, Warren!

I know it's hard to get to them... Even without TrackIR they will sell millions... So why should they spend more time on the game then nessecary...

I'll try to let bf2 fansites asked about it in their next interviews...

Regards,

Patrick

I hope unlike the other BF series they at least allow seperate view and flight contol in BF2.
With any of them now, whenever you pan around, all flight controls are neutralized. You can only control your aircraft when your view is straight on.
Some ground vehicles do allow you to look around while still maintaining control of your steering, but then thats only one axis.
BF Vietnam has some great seat of the pants feel to their helicopters. If they had TrackIR support, it would be a blast.

No, thankyou Patrick!. Any and all help to spread the word is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to let us know if you get anyone to discuss it. we're always interested in what the community thinks (good or bad).

While it is true that the big boys like DICE don't need us to help their sales, the crazy thing is that implementing TrackIR takes a miniscule amount of time. Some have done it in less than an hour. The hard part is convincing them that such a small amount of work will open up their game for a totally new and rewarding way to play.

(ARGH! the frustration is palpable!)

JD, our man Ken has really been pushing what you just said. I've only really played BF1942 with the Desert Combat Extended mods. But yes, i find it extremely frustrating to have the view locked.

Hello Warren!

I've become a member on numberous bf2 fan sites and asked at all the forums if it was possible to ask questions about trackir in their next interviews... I've even emailed to ea.com

At bf2gaming.net they have even made a poll about trackir. If it would improve gameplay and so on...

And after reading the replies, you could see there were more people hoping bf2 will be trackir enhanced...

I'll let you know when i'm getting something interesting to my ears...

Regards...

Dont count on it. TIR is something used by the professional gamer, something DICE and EA can care less about. We complained forever about having a mouselook available when piloting w/o losing your controls at the same time when I competed in BF1942 and till today bf:v still doesnt have it. You can mouselook yes but you lose your joystick controls when enabled.

I sent a email to Dice in Sweden describing TrackIR and it's growing interest and if they could take a look into it. I only got a reply that they would forward it to their developement team.
I can't imagine that if they took a real look into it that they wouldn't be interested at least. But if they haven't changed the viewing system where you lose controlability while panning, I have my doubts we'll have any luck it gets implemented in time. Why the heck they put that limitation in the BF series I just don't know.
