NaturalPoint TrackIR videos!

Post by warrenEBB »

Not to toot our own horn too much, but we're popping up our first few "official NaturalPoint In-Game' videos this week, and i'm curious what you all think.

look here:
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/products/video.html

Next up will be a smattering of quick videos from each of our enhanced games, hopefully with footage of wayne at the computer so people can see how little he actually moves to look around his cockpits.

and then we'll offer a few FPS shooter games (most likely medal of honor and tron 2.0, to start) with Kafuji's keymapper program http://kaf.tri6.net/trackmapper/ to show how cool that is turning out.

So if you (yes YOU) have any comments, or requests for videos, please let me know about them in this thread.

Thanks all!

I am curious to find out how you are capturing the video. Are you using hardware or software and which.

Thanks

we have an s-video out (and RCA jacks) on our demo computer's vid card, so i just just plug the monitor feed directly into one of my video cameras (along with one channel of the audio).

wah-lah i get exactly what you'd see and hear from your monitor, recorded directly onto minidv tape.

(this way no processor speed is lost on saving vid to desktop).

ok, our third (and final for a while/week) video is up, showing off eaglesoft's Cessna Citation 10 model.

i put the model author's in the video, but suppose i should list em here just in case yall are interested in downloading them:

Gazelle (Designed by Cyril Pioffet) Download at HoverControl which can be found at ( http://www.hovercontrol.com/ )

F-14 Tomcat (Designed by Dino Cattaneo) Download at Flightsim which can be found at ( http://www.flightsim.com )

Cessna Citation X ( Designed by Eaglesoft Development Group) Download at Eaglesoft which can be found at ( http://www.eaglesoftdg1.com/home.htm )

in other news, while i'm seeking feedback (anyone? bueller? ), i should also ask if the file size and resolution is agreeable.
i'm planning to keep putting up these videos at 320x240, 29 fps, at around 10MBs, unless anyone would like larger/crisper.
hmm?

Just had a look at some of your videos Warren and I think there great with the way the Track IR Logo comes up at the start of them, the FS2004 one are good but could do with the view being pulled back just a little more in the virtual cockpits also so looking up while flying would be good as most of the time its panning L & R and looking down.

When I have shown people my Track IR running in FS2004 I have found that I get the biggest responce from them while im taxiing a aircraft from the gate to the runway following another AC that is taxing too and looking around while I do the taxi, I find that the Tiger Moth model from the Bill Lyons collection is a good plane as it has a open cockpit and great feel from the VC.

Cool, thanks Hotdognz!

Our next set of videos should have far more vertical movement (and hopefully energy and usefulness).

I will now track down the Tiger Moth model (as it is definitely going in). more later.

Hotdognz,

I have some great aircraft lined up for the next video's.

I think that the Capt Sims 727 is a good candidate here especially during the taxi to the active at a busy airport.
Carrying out pre start-up checks and start-up after pushback would also show how effective TrackIR is especially when you have to operate switch gear on the overhead panel.

I tried to simulate in the video's the pilots natural head movements and to keep the views as realistic as possible.

Great points though. If you want to see a particular aircraft featured if you can let me know I will learn how to fly her first before doing the video.

If you would like to make some videos with TrackIR in use then please let me know.

Warren and myself have just done some more videos. We are hoping to do Falcon4 and a number of other videos next.

Please e-mail me with what videos you are thinking of.
