Start FS 2004 in Virtual Cockpit mode?

Post by jeff_hanna »

Is there a setting or a line in a config file (or something else entirely) that I can set to default FS 2004 to starting in virtual cockpit mode? Now that I have my TrackIR Pro w/ Vector expansion I'd like to do away with the 2D cockpit entirely.

Good question. I don't seem to have the answer though. Anyone else?

Save a flight when in VC mode.
Then make this flight the default (startup) flight.

I tried saving the flight with virtual cockpit on, and it did not work for me. However, after a bit of searching, I found the solution.

Use notepad to open C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\FS9.cfg Search for "virtual". You will find the section that looks like this:
[VirtualCopilot]
VirtualCopilotActive=0

Change it to:
[VirtualCopilot]
VirtualCopilotActive=1

Save the file and exit.

It says "VirtualCopilot" rather than "VirtualCockpit".

I'll have to try it.

Thanks for your efforts. I'll post back with results.
