Well, it isn't like we're able to process more than 24 fps through our eyes and brains... Sure, we might notice the difference between, let's say, 30 and 60 fps, but framerates above 100 fps are literally over four times what we can notice, so dropping from 200 to 100 isn't too much of an issue! As long as the framerate remains higher than what we process, playing will remain enjoyable!
I mean, all along the length of my gaming "career", I've played various games with framerates ranging from 9 (yes, 9) to 180, and I don't notice any actual change above 60fps, even if my eyesight is quite good according to the doctor.
