Advice required please

Evening all,

Have owned a TIR 1 for almost a year now. But never used it in enhanced mode, only mouse emulation.

However, I am trying to use the unit in Lock on, in enhanced mode.

I load my profile in to the TIR software (v2.12) (have also tried v3) and Lock on is selected in the assign autoload profiles, and Motion Mode is TIR Enhanced.

However, it will not work unless the Cockpit Mouse is selected within Lockon.

I have followed the 1.01 Lockon patch readme (about disabling cockpit mouse), but if I do that, TIR will not work! (I am using the F9/F12/F8 mapped to my CH Throttle, with all reference to them deleted from the Input options screen in Lockon so there would be no confliction).

So is there some kind soul who could tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Curious - the only thing I can think of is that your lockon profile switches you back to mouse-mode. So that even though you choose enhanced mode before you minimize the TIR software, once lockon starts it switches you over.

Maybe you should make a fresh profile as an experiment. Maybe you could make 2, one with mouse mode, one with enhanced mode, and see whether anything different happens.

Maybe your TrackIR software has got corrupted (registry problems or something) and needs a reinstall.

I have tried your suggestion (my profiles/someone elses), mouse/enhanced. Spent most of Sunday in and out of Lock On/NP software. Unfortunately, unlike TIR2 there is no visual representation that the unit is in enhanced mode once in the game. The tracking light stays on though. Once I exit the game, the NP software still tells me I am in Enhanced mode. And all the default Toggle switches respond.

I have scoured the forums to see if any one else is suffering the same problem, but it appears to be just me.

I ordered the TIR2 yesterday, bit drastic I know. But I consider it an upgrade, just like I would when replacing a video card, adding or adding some extra RAM.

Should arrive tomorrow. And finally I can see for myself what I have been missing with the TIR enhanced ...!

drastic perhaps - but cool as well. You ought to be able to fetch an ok price for your old unit though

Bit of a bugger, but the place I ordered my TIR 2 from is out of stock until the 25th Jan.

Messing about this afternoon I installed IL2 FB (up to date with the 1.21 download). I never used my TIR in Enhanced with that game either.

Well, I gave it a go. And TIR worked without a problem (v3.03). Ran totally independent of the mouse, which is a good pointer that you are actually in Enhanced mode with TIR 1.

The NP Profiles is also diplaying the "Current Active Game" as FB. Which it doesnt with Lomac.

I dont think Lomac is recognising the TIR full stop. (Have uninstalled, reinstalled, patched up, with the same result. I also downloaded the patch again, just to be sure).

Hmm .. not usre what the problem is.

All i can say is that it works perfectly for me. And everytime i try to be clever here i get everything wrong and get corrected by the "grown-ups" .. i better leave the troubleshooting to them
