Sensitivity

Post by Barrie »

Hi all

I have just received TrackIR2 with the latest software. I generally works ok, although it is taking some getting used to.

My main interest is Flightsim using FS2002 at present. The tracker does work in the game but I find it extremely difficult when landing because my forward view keeps moving about at the slightest thing. Worst landings I've ever done. I have now come to the conclusion that once reasonably lined up with the runway it would be best to disable the tracker (F8). I've tried adjusting the sensitivity in the interface but little seems to change. Why is this?

Have any other flightsimmers any tips here?

Thanks, Barrie

Hi Barrie
Pick the "custom" profile to be able to modify the sensitivity and response curve.
You might want to have low sensitivity around the mid point and gradually increase it as you look to the side.
Experiment with and you will definitely notice a difference, remember to run enhanced mode, as mouse mode doesnt seem to be using the response curve.

Hi deBug, Happy New Year

Thanks for your advice. I'm gradually getting used to the thing but still feel there isn't enough flexibility in the program. I did notice a paragraph in the manual about creating a new profile and modifying the dead zone which I haven't tried yet, so I might improve on what I want yet. Pressing F12 repeatedly on the landing approach does help a lot but is a bit tedious.

I use the CHFS Yoke and wondered if I could assign one of the buttons to F12 but it's not used in the assignments within FS2k2. So I'm not sure how to get round that one yet. I'm sure there must be a way.

I also found I was getting a bad pickup of direct light from behind me which probably didn't help.

Cheers, Barrie
