Mouse cursor visible on centering

Post by Jwcfly »

Hi everyone: I've searched the forums, and did not find the answer to my specific problem. My apologies in advance if this has been covered. I run FS2004 with TrackIR2 and version 3.10. on WinXP home. Everything works great with the Natural Point FS2004 profile, but the cursor appears for a few seconds after recentering. As there were so few posts regarding this issue, I suspect I may have missed something simple ( isn't that always the case?). Anyway, can I prevent the cursor from appearing when recentering?

Jwcfly,

I think I understand what your asking.

Firstly you have to understand that Flight Sim 2004 has a dynamic cockpit, which also allows you to use the mouse to make changes.

Microsoft has enabled the mouse in such away that if your mouse hovers over a hotspot or an area that can be altered it becomes visible, and after a few seconds it then disappears.

Because TrackIR uses the dynamic gauge structure within Flight Sim we have the same effect as hovering over a gauge or hotspot.

Because you use the absolute mode in Flight Sim, you shouldnt have to re-center unless you move your position, you are in Absolute mode I take it?

Wayne: Thanks for your response. Yes, I am using my TrackIR2 in absolute mode. You hit the nail on the head. I did not quite understand until now how the mouse and the TrackIR worked in conjuction. Thanks for clarifying this for me, it makes perfect sense now.
May I ask one more quick question? I have been planning (forever!) a home based flightsim cockpit of some sort, to be used with FS2004. If I set this up using multiple monitors, each having their own dedicated computer to draw the graphics for the outside view, would the TrackIR work? By being able to use one monitor for say, the right front, right side, and right rear 3/4 views, I might be able to adjust the budget for more goodies inside the actual cockpit, rather than more monitors.
Thanks again for a great, reasonably priced product, and your prompt response. You have given the flightsim community something that may have endless possibilities. I'll stay tuned to see what else you folks have up your sleeves!

A difficult question.

So many variables would depend on how you were to do this. You can only use TrackIR on one computer, are you thinking of using more than one unit?

Hi Wayne: Ah, yes only one computer. I see. Using more than one TrackIR unit might be a bit more complicated and involved than it is worth. That being said, I would rather purchase more TrackIR units than more monitors!
Allow me to throw another wrench in the works. Say I use one computer, but have a three monitor display such as the Bugeye unit.
Would I be able to track across all three displays? Will the current TrackIR software let me use the monitor in front of me for the front, left front, and right front views, the left monitor for the left, and left rear views, and the right monitor for the right, and right rear views?
I promise this will be the last silly question that I bother you with. Thank you.

Sincerely, Jay

Jwcfly,

I have not had the chance to try this with so many monitors, I know of the Bugeye system.

I wish that I could afford one.

It might be a good idea to ask them this question. I have used two monitors with no problems. If you can not find any info out then I will see what I can do to find an answer for you.

Wayne: Alas, the Bugeye seems to be out of reach for me also, but the fact that the Natural Point TrackIR has been used across two monitors is certainly encouraging. Thanks for your help, and if I can get something "exotic" up and running I'll let you know for future reference. All the best
