My TrackIR3 Pro arrived broken and...

Post by Seetherr »

And looks kinda like it has been used. Could I have gotten a display model maybe?

My track IR arrived full of finger prints (no I wan't inspecting it with a microscope heh, they were pretty noticeable) and the CD jewel case also had finger prints and scratching. It just kinda looks as if it had been opened and used. Also, what is prompting me to write this is that where the cable connects into the plastic housing of the unit, the rubber is broken and hanging loose. The cable instead of being fixed into the unit, hangs because the rubber on the top that fixes it in place is broken, as if it was tugged out.

I need help, I was so looking forward to trying my unit in my games

Could I have gotten a used unit? why?

P.s. Also something else I noticed, the unit seems to be attached backwards to the base. The long rear leg of the base that should point to the back, actually points to the front, making mounting ontop of the monitor impossible. I tried to see if maybe the base twirls, but after moderate force, I gave up, dont want to break it any further than it already is. Is this right?

Thank you much for the quick reply. The serial on the unit is 017848.

I don't really mind finger prints or scratching on the cd case, thats really no problem, it was just that when I saw the loose cable and broken rubber support that my vivid imagination fired up hehe. I had thought maybe a sample unit had been sent by mistake.

Thank you for explaining about the base. I was afraid to use a lot of force on it not really knowing how it worked yet.

Hello Sir,

Please see my answers below.

And looks kinda like it has been used. Could I have gotten a display model maybe?

>>> We don't have display models so no, the unit would not have been used. Can you also please tell me your serial number so I can log this information?

----------

My track IR arrived full of finger prints (no I wan't inspecting it with a microscope heh, they were pretty noticeable) and the CD jewel case also had finger prints and scratching. It just kinda looks as if it had been opened and used.

>>> Someone in the shipping department may have not been wearing their cotton gloves and so the oils on their fingers probably transferred their fingerprints.

>>> As for the scratches on the CD case not sure. Policy is to never re-use CD cases. We buy them in bulk new, but we have discovered some that do not appear as good as others. If one of these got past inspection, then it may be possible this happened.

>>> I will talk with the shipping manager.

Also, what is prompting me to write this is that where the cable connects into the plastic housing of the unit, the rubber is broken and hanging loose. The cable instead of being fixed into the unit, hangs because the rubber on the top that fixes it in place is broken, as if it was tugged out.

Could I have gotten a used unit? why?

>>> What you said here is why I need to get the serial number so I can issue you an RMA number. This would not be a used unit if ordered from us directly.

-------------

>>> This is correct and probably explains a lot of the fingerprint issues. The head of the unit is fully articulated but is twisted around in order to put it in the packaging. All this handling is probably where the fingerprints came from. To get the unit to it's normal position, twist the head 180 degrees and then fold the base back and flatten it out. It will be tight because of the rubber grommets, but this is ok. They are doing their job keeping things tight.
