tir3pro worked few days until now

Post by Allochtoon »

Couple a days ago i received the unit, i set it up, made a good curve in the software, and had a blast playing lomac and fb.

So today i was playing lomac, and was doing a positive cobra manouver and using the headmounted mode in the sukhoi in a dogfight (for getting a big AoA advantage.)

Anyways, at that time my view freaked out, i checked the tracking screen and got a bit depressed.

There is a lot of 'background noise' but it still appears when i cover the unit. So i assumed it was a software problem.

Alot of green, red, white and grey random stuff happening in the tracking tab.

So i checked the pdf - the software and or drivers seem to be having problems with VIA chipsets and SBlive! cards.

Crap. ( i got both.)

So i updated the drivers of both, rebooted, but no joy, same problem.

1/100th of the time the tracking seems fine, then it goes static again. It seems to invert alot too.

It looks like when one would unplug the cable of youre tv.

Are there specific driver versions i should try, and why should i get a self powered usb hub, when having problems one is also advised to try to plug it in directly?

Hope someone can help me out

Marco

Allochtoon,

"Alot of green, red, white and grey random stuff happening in the tracking tab".

This does sound as if there are reflections in the room, does this happen at certain times of the day, for example when the sun is coming through the window?

If you have TrackIR3 and it looks like you have then the latest drivers are what you should be using.

Just for testing purposes try changing the direction of your unit to see if the colors move or disappear.
If you are still having problems if you can email then we can take a closer look.

-- what i posted on ubi's ---

thx for replying :]

Yeah i tried different usb ports, i even thought the cable got alot of interference but that coulndt be possible either.

I tried alot of things, and it works fine now.

What i did was remove my sblive to see what happened.

Update 4in1 drivers for VIA chipset.

Eventually, i updated my bios, no improvement again.

In this whole process i uninstalled tir software and rebooted prior to doing the stuff mentioned above. After doing that again after the bios update it worked fine again :]

The strange thing is that prior to the problems i had i didnt change things to my system, but it works fine again so im happy :]

Wayne,

As i said even when i completely covered the unit the static remained, i rechecked that by killing all light sources and blacking the room. I know most people get these problems because they have mirrors or reflective material in the viewing range of the unit, but that wasnt the problem at all.

I used the latest drivers without ever putting in the tir cd.

What i think caused the problem was totally VIA related, after updating the bios my problems were gone, i've got an asus a7v8x-x.

About changing the direction, i did see the reflective green spot during all the static, but when i moved the unit away from it the static remained and the green spot dissapeared.

thx for replying :]

Marco

ps: what still makes me wonder is why suddenly the static appeared after hours of working fine.

Very very sporadic the unit still goes static for like 20 seconds on average, this is like 1 time in 5 hours. But its acceptable :]
