Looking down
Looking down
I am sure it is something simple I am not doing, but in PF I can look right, left, up, but not down. If I use the hat button I can see the rest of the cockpit. In FS9, there is no problem. Is that because of it being Virtual Cockpit, and there is none in PF?
Re: Looking down
It's my first day using TrackIR 3 and i am using it, too with Pacific-Fighters + IL2 Forgotten Battles + Aces Addon , and FS2004 , LockOn ...
I've got no problem at all , using it in PF , meaning i got it set up, that i can easily, without extreme head movements, look around the whole cockpit up/down , left/right, backwards as far as possible on different cockpit styles.
I can look right down to my feet and the seat and everything, so there should be nothing wrong with the tracking and movement.
What makes me wonder, is, that you are mentioning, you are able to use your coolie-hat on the joystick to look down ??
In which mode are you using PF ??
Relative or absolute mode ??
All i can say is that:
i am using TrackIR in PF in the trackIR enhanced mode (absolute) , which means, my blue led is nicely lit up, telling me working in absolute mode.
What i notice along with it, being in this mode, is that i can't use neither the mouse nor my coolie-hat on joystick to look around, since it's totally taken over by trackIR and my tracking-hat.
And it's working really good, with my settings, fast enough, but still smooth and not jerky !
Whatelse i've noticed, is, by using TrackIR in PF in the Mouse emulation mode (relative positioning - blue led switched off), the tracking is working, too, but not as good as in absolute mode.
Well, that's what i've encountered as best setting for myself.
But - in absolute mode i really can put my head anywhere i want far away from being centered nicely, pushing F12 (or whatever button setting) it centers quick and without a problem anytime right in the middle of the screen/cockpit !
If i've tried to do the same in relativ-mode - i got problems - for example, if the mousepointer got moved with the mouse closer to the top of the screen and centering with F12 - it looked first ok since being in the middle of the cockpit, but, moving the head up it worked all the way, moving the head down, i could only see parts of the cockpit and couldn't reach the floor at all.
This never doesn't seem to happen in absolute-mode !
Since i am new to TrackIR i can't be sure, if it's , too, a matter of the settings in the profile - but i assume, that the profile settings for relative and absolute mode are working different and shouldn't interfere with each other - just guessing here .... ... but should be close to the truth ...
Maybe some of the above might help you after all !

Re: Looking down
jens,
Check your tracking screen in the position that you will play the game and ensure that the green dot is roughly in the center of the screen. This will allow you equal viewing in both axis.
Your profile can also limit your view if its too slow in the vertical axis. I will be more than happy to help you with some profiles.

Re: Looking down
Thanks. I had the tracker sitting too low on the top of my screen. I moved it up and can now see my feet. If I had feet, that is.
