TrackIR 3 Pro Lockups in IL2FB/PB

My pc has not been able to run FB/PF with trackir since I upgraded from trackir 1 to trackir 3 pro with VE addon.

This problem has rendered both FB/PF and the trackir 3 pro unit usless. The pc will not run the combination for anything longer than 5-10 minutes without resulting in one of multiple types of lock-ups/crashes. The problem has been very difficult to troubleshoot, and very persistent no matter what I have tried.

Troubleshooting steps have included:

Thorough cleaning of the entire case and all heatsinks and fan units.
Installation of an additional 2 case fans.
Installation of VGA Silencer unit on radeon 9800 pro all in wonder display adapter.
Upgrade from generic 450w power supply to Ultra Systems 600w psu.
Tested memory and upgraded to 1gb (2x512mb kingston dual chanl ddr 3200 (400mhz).
Complete format and re-install of winxp pro.
download and installation of newest drivers for all hardware, along with Dx9c.

After all this I decided to test the application without the trackir unit running, and viola! The system was rock solid and would probably have run FB/PF for an indefinate time period, had I not decided to quit out of the program so I could post this message. I ran the program for at least an hour and a half just to be sure.

I need help with this problem, but I thought I would post here first as it might help others who are experiencing similar problems.

Any help anyone here can offer would also be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dragonmdo you by any chance have a HOTAS for IL2?
If you do andif you have a HUB (powered or not) then I would sugest that you check to see if you have both TIR and the HOTAS on thy same USB port on your PB via the HUB. Please take either the HOTAS or TIR and change one of them to a different USB port on your PC.

If you have any USB ports on the front of your PC be careful as some are sold as seperate USBUSB ports, but are really like a built in HUB.

I know that USB is supposed to take 255 pieces of equipment, they can but there is a bandwith limit that is spread accross everything pluged into one port. TIR and HOTAS are both fairly close to that limit, so the USB falls over.

If this does not work come back and we can try something else on top of your extensive troubleshooting.

I was having this problem also. I traced the problem down to a .dll file that has something to do with databases... Check my other thread in here. I formatted, clean install and installed TrackIR with vector expansion and everything works perfectly. Not a single lock up or slow down or anything.

I dont know if this is an option for you or not... I format bi-monthly so formatting was a pretty easy decision to make

TrackIR device exists on a USB addon card (internal) and has been tried unsuccessfully elsewhere too (MB).

Reformat was step 4 or 5 for me in troubleshooting this problem... didn't help.

Completed uninstall of all USB devices from device manager and removal of all USB entries for all devices.

Reinstalled all USB devices, Beginning with TrackIR 3 Pro. Still getting frequent lock-ups and crashes.
