Should I turn TrackIR off when not in use?

Hello,

My computer is never turned off. It stays on overnight etc.

Last night i forgot to turn off the TrackIR software so trackIR stayed on aswell.

Is this a bad thing that will shorten the life of my unit?

I do not think so.
With thunderstorm however, it is wise to shut down your PC and unplug it from the cable.
There might be a very high EMP on your system and electronic's does not like that
