Tracking dot moving but heads motionless

Post by Kingphisher »

Hi,

I'm using TrackIR 3, Vector Exp. Driver: 4.1.027

Having a problem with the app locking up. (Before I begin: I don't think it's the driver /registry problem that many people (incl. myself) had been experiencing. Reloaded drivers and checked status in profiles. Everything was OK.
Also have tested in dot tracking mode not VEx).

Here are the symthoms which may provide some clue as to what might be wrong:

*The red leds are on as expected. The green flashes on (once) for a moment and then goes. Flashes back if you hold a reflective object close to it.
*The tracking dot can be seen to move in the tracking window, but the heads are motionless.
*Upon closing the TrackIR app it is impossible to retstart unless you reboot or log out. If you click on the icon the hourglass appears for a second and then dissapears. That's all that happens - although for moments after that the computer is very sluggish.

Hope this seems familiar!

Kind Regards,

What USB port are you using on your system? USB hub?

How many watts is your power supply?

Yup!

There's another usb port beside that (also at the back), from which I have a hub which connects to a HOTAS and nothing else.
Tried running TrackIR with hub disconnected (just in case) but didn't make any difference. I've also reinstalled the drivers.

The thing that gets me is that it was working for some time without any problems - except for the fact that I'd alsways have to manually disconnect the TrackIR before shutting down and starting up. If the app was running during this then the drivers would be corrupted and I would have to go through the reinstall process as outlined elsewhere on this forum.

is the TrackIR detected correctly in the Device Manager? It should be listed under USB Controllers towards the bottom of the list.

Hi Rick,

I'm not using a hub due to the power / data requirements. So it has a direct connection and the power is 500mA.

Thanks,

I have replied to all email I've gotten so if you didnt get a reply that means either something was misspelled or our blocker stopped it from getting to me. Can you double check to make sure you got a response? Or sent it correctly?
