I have used my TrackIR Pro 3 w/Vector expansion for a year without any problems. Now all of the sudden the software crashes on startup. I'm very frustrated because I've spent 5 hours trying to get this crap to work. I've uinstalled and reinstalled a million times, tried various USB ports and even tried hooking it up directly to the motherboard. I'm about ready to throw this thing in the trash, despite the fact that it cost me nearly $200 a year ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Here's the error from the EventViewer:
Application popup: TrackIR.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x7c911404" referenced memory at "0xfffffff8". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

BSOD CRASHES. NEED HELP.
Re: BSOD CRASHES. NEED HELP.
I have made a tiny amount of progress. I was able to get the software to at least start up only after uninstalling every single USB device I have (by unplugging them and then verifying/deleting everything that still showed up in DeviceManager) and by going into regedit and clearing out something like a 100 registry keys with "trackir" or "naturalpoint" before performing a reinstall of the software.
The trackIR software works... until I actually load up a game. The blue light comes on, but then the software locks up and it doesn't work in game (I was trying it with GT Legends). Even after supposively killing off the program, TrackIR.EXE is still listed in the processes. If I try to start it again, nothing happens. I checked the running processes and it's still there. I can't get rid of it no matter what I try. I even tried "taskkill /F /IM TrackIR.exe" from the command line which is supposed to force kill a process. The command says it succeeds, but the task is always still there. The only to get rid of it at this point is to reboot. VERY frustrating. Why has this thing become so unreliable all of the sudden?
I'll try deleting all of the profiles (I only have the 4 that it comes with) to see if that makes a difference.

What a nightmare this product is!
I'm back to zero hour. I can't get ANYWHERE with it. Now I'm getting BSOD crashes when I plug the TrackIR 3 into the USB ports on the motherboard. I've repeatedly uinstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, cleared out the registry, etc. I've wasted 10 useless hours messing with this thing. No response from tech support. Definitely something has gone majorly wrong here.

Re: BSOD CRASHES. NEED HELP.
I have completely formatted my hard drive last night and have a clean install of Windows XP. Just went to try out the TrackIR and am getting the exact same computer crash while detecting TrackIR and installing drivers when it's plugged in. I now believe this has got to mean the TrackIR is faulty.

Re: BSOD CRASHES. NEED HELP.
Your last reply was that you were making progress... hence why there was no immediate reply.
Your issue sounds complete system software related and not hardware at all.
Have you even tried using it on another computer yet to verify no faulty hardware? If not, when was the last time you formatted your PC and started fresh? After time the OS can get so cluttered with old installations and complete reinstall is the only way to go. I normall reformat by computer every 6 months depending on my usage.
