USB Conflict?
I have used TrackIR without any problems for over 6 months now and I love it - I cant imagine playing my flight sims without it.
My problem is that I recently switched from my ethernet internet connection to a wireless setup - I now use a DLINK Wireless Air-G USB Dongle to connect to my router.
If I load Windows Task Manager and monitor the CPU load under the "Performance" tab when I launch the TrackIR software the load jumps from an idle of ~10% to 100%. It then stays like this whilst the TrackIR program is running.
I can't work out why TrackIR has started doing this - except my recent migration to the USB Dongle. Could there be a conflict between the two devices?
I can't play my flight sims with TrackIR loaded at the moment - if I don't start the app everything works nice and fast. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
P.S I currently have version 4.1 build 26 of the TrackIR software installed.

Re: USB Conflict?
First, I would download the latest version of the software.
http://media.naturalpoint.com/software/ ... .Final.exe
Second, try moving USB locations, i.e. if the dongle is plugged into the back of the unit try switching to the front. Try changing USB ports for the TrackIR as well, but make one change at a time, and see if this helps with issue, before making another change.
Third, any other applications running in the background?
Forth, when this issue occurs, go to the Task Manager, right click on the TrackIR, scroll down to set priority, and tell me what it is set to.

Re: USB Conflict?
I tried installing the software you recommended - first I removed my existing software then I installed the new one.
THis didn't seem to help, so I moved the Dongle and Tracker to different USB ports. THis hasn't helped either.
I have no other programs running in the background. This is what my task manager looks like:
A - Computer idling
B - TrackIR software launched
C - Start moving my head gently around all axis of movement
D - TrackIR software closed
This still looks like a USB conflict to me? I get the same results no matter what combination of USB ports I try and if I have the TIR on a 1.1 or 2.0 port.
Please help.

Re: USB Conflict?
In Task Manager TrackIR.exe is set to "Normal" priority.
TM reports it is using 18,088K of memory (just started the app, I'm not tracking etc.) and that it is only using 0-3% of the CPU.
If I then go to View > Tracking (to enable the IR view) the CPU load increases to an average of about 40-70%.
As soon as I close the "Tracking" window it goes back down to idle ~3%
See below:- the raised section in the middle of the top graph is where I turned on the "Tracking" window.

In this folder, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles.
What are the file sizes?

Re: USB Conflict?
When you start the TrackIR software. Bring up the Task Manager, look at the TrackIR software, and tell me what percentage of the system resources is it using?
Right click on the software, and check to see what set priority is listed at?

Re: USB Conflict?
The total size fo the 4 profiles in the folder is 6KB.
I was sure to remove everything when I reinstalled the software so I doubt a profile is corrupt.

So without the dongle does it function properly?

Re: USB Conflict?
I think the Dongle is causing the issue here - it has also been causing my DVD playback to be very jittery/jerky. I solved that problem by moving the Dongle to another USB port on it's own - however it stil conflicts with the TrackIR.
I guess I will have to wait 6 weeks until I can move back to a wired ethernet connection and loose the Dongle.
Thanks for your help.
