Vector expansion - Blue Screens!!

Post by Rafman925 »

Hi All, I'm running tracker IR3pro and vector expansion and keep getting blue screens on start up if the tracker is connected. I can run tracker and the vector if I don't plug in the USB until I wish to use it in Flt/Sim...I've tried running it connected singularly in each bank of USB slots but still get the blue screen as follows.
STOP: 0x0000001E, (0xC0000005, 0xEB49D820, 0x00000000, 0x0000000C) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Any ideas?

Hi Rafman,
I take it you are runing XP (this would work with W2K). You might need your system disk for this.

The STOP error is often caused by incompatable hardware or driver conflicts. So what I am going to do is talk you through removing your TIR and on how to remove and rebuild your USB Drivers for XP. You might need your system disk for this.

If you leave the TIR discinected and Right Click on "My Computer", goto Properties.

Now goto HardWare and then Device Manager.

Look for the USB down towards the bottom, and open it.

Now delete all of USB devices untill you can delet the USB it's self.

Reboot.

Now you should hear some beeps and "found New Hardware" dialogs (this is where you might need your systems disk).

When the "Found New Hardware" stops reboot.

If you hear more beeps and "Found New Hardware" dialogs stop reboot.

Once you can boot up with out the "found new Hardware" beeps, goto Start, Settings and Controle Panel.

Select Add/Remove Programs.

Look for TrackIR (it could be NaturalPoint) and select Delete.

Once the Delete is finished, look in your C:\Programs directory and see if there is a naturalPoint or TrackIR folder and delete it.

Download the latest driver from www.NaturalPoint.com

Run the new Driver.

And plug in the TIR when asked for it (or when the driver has fully finished installing. When you plug the TIR in make sure it is on a different USB port to any Joystick, Wheel or HOTAS. Windows might not like the driver but select Continue.

Now Reboot again.

Your PC should now run with out getting the STOP Blue Screen. Come back and let me know if this has not helped.

Good Luck.

thanks for the sugestion, but before I try it I wanted you to know that I'm running W2K, so should I just continue as you set out for XP. Rafman

rafman, I use to use W2K and the removal and reinstall of the USB tree in W2K is the same, but if I remember corectly you will need the W2K Disk.

The way to get to the Device manager is roughly the same.

The USB will be more so if I remember (It has been a while since I used W2K so forgive me if this is wrong as I have not kept upto date with the W2K service packs.) W2K used USB 1.1 (USB2 might have been added since) and the data limit is even smaller than with USB2. So I would say that the original USB info is doubly important.

I have done the USB tree rebuild like that since I was originally on WK with no problems.

Good Luck

I just started getting the same proplem. I moved my USB connection to the front of my computer, and it worked fine for one day. This morning I got a message saying device could not be found. Then I started getting the Blue Screen above. I unplugged it , but I cannot get past the Blue Screen. I tried starting in Safe Mode, but nothing, just the damn Blue Screen. So how can I get back into my computer to do what is suggested above? I am running XP by the way. This is driving me crazy. I am ready to call the Computer Geeks from Best Buy and spend the money for the help. I have never had this problem before. I just installed Voice Buddy, but I don't think that would cause Vector to major malfunction. Please, please, please, help this computer idiot. Thanks
