New driver problem

Post by Brutis »

Hello Everyone,
I have been in delayed contact with Rick and he has had me do the same things as all of you with no success. Starting to wonder if it is to much to ask from this company to buy a product that works. That's all we're asking isn't it?!?!?!?!
I have been browsing through all the TIR junk and found this install log that I haven't seen posted in the forums yet.

2-4-2006
Install Log Entry Begin (Installation):
DirectX version : 09
DirectX version is okay
OS = Win 2K/XP
Component USB from 0 to 1
Component APP from 0 to 1
Component DOCS from 0 to 1
Component MSFS2002 from 0 to 0
Component PROFILES from 0 to 1
Install USB Drivers for 2K/XP
ReInstallUSBDevices loaded setuphlp.DLL :
Error = 0
RegisterDriverINF UpdateDriver4PnP Failed! :
USB\VID_131D&PID_0155 AND C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Drivers\NPUSB3.inf
Error = 183
SetupCopyOEMInfA Called
ReInstallUSBDevices loaded setuphlp.DLL :
Error = 0
RegisterDriverINF UpdateDriver4PnP Failed! :
USB\VID_131D&PID_0156 AND C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Drivers\NPUSB3.inf
Error = 183
SetupCopyOEMInfA Called

I don't quite know what all this means but I do notice the constant driver installation errors and the big FAILED! piece of it. Any ideas??? Maybe the reason why no one's camera will work is because the software can't even install the drivers properly.
And as asked my serial number is 044018.

not sure if this is what you mean Brutis, where can I find the install log?

here is a excerpt from my setupapi though that concers TIR:

#E367 An unsigned or incorrectly signed file "C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Drivers\NPUSB3.inf" for will be installed (Policy=Warn, user said ok). Error 0xe000022f: The third-party INF does not contain digital signature information.
[2006/02/04 14:43:06 804.3 Driver Install]
#-019 Searching for hardware ID(s): usb\unknown
#-018 Searching for compatible ID(s): usb\unknown

I wouldnt call tir junk though. I have used version 1 for3 years and am very happy with it. Unfortunately things goes wrong with new stuff from time to tima and Naturalpoint is known to be very good with their customers, so I am sure that we will find a solution. Still very frustrating though. Ihave been saving for a few months for this piece of equipment, I wanted the 6DOF and I REALLY was looking forward to it. The first week i LOVED it, and it that way it is even MORE frustrationg now when it doesn't work. For 2 days npw I have tried for 10-12 hours to get it to work... I tell you, reinstall xp is no fun, and twice is even more ....

but still, I am confident that NP wil ltake care of us.

PS sorry for the spelling, Lagavulin does that to me

EDIT!

Found the install log:

As you can see after the first unsuccessful installation THIS tims (2ns reinstallation of XP) I tried also to update the driver from Device manager.

I still think it is Hardware issue. How else can it work for a week with no problem then suddenly stop .

and then not work after a COMPLETE (2 actually) reinstallations of XP

I know mate, thankful for that. I just thought it was a good idea to share the endresult. If I present the reason then guys with similar problems won't go through all the "Mistakes" I did... like reinstalling xp twice:) They know what to do.

Well same here Orheim, getting a replacement camera. Obviously the same list of problems occur with many TIR users. Glad that we have their support and the communities.
