Little befuddled

A few years ago a friend gave me a IR track from natural point. He told me it was an early version of the IR track 3. I have never had any luck with it but I am willing to try again. There is nothing but a serial number on the device. The number is 014771. Unfortunately there was no software that came with it. Any ideas as to which version I should try?
