Re: Can't get Trackir to work on FSX
I have checked my firewall settings, and both TrackIR and FSX.exe are allowed full access. I have also set the 127.0.0.1 IP address as a trusted site in my firewall settings (is this necessary). Still, no luck. Any other ideas? Thanks...

Fred - I have seen this come up, on a few systems, where the blue light is on, but it still isn't working properly. Generally, it has happened on systems with McAfee running, it is still hampering the communication with the TCP/IP stack. Some customers have had some success installing IPv6 then uninstalling it, as this causes the TCP/IP stack to reinstall.
Peskie - Just to double check you have done the following steps.
1 - Uninstalled the TrackIR software
2 - Deleted the TrackIR folder
3 - Reinstalled with the 4.1.029 version of the software
4 - Deleted the Simconnect [color:"red"]folder[/color], and did a repair install of FSX.

Re: Can't get Trackir to work on FSX
I had done all of those steps... the last thing I had done was the "delete the Simconnect folder and repair" step (I saved the old *.dll and compared it with the 'repaired' one, the were identical).Peskie - Just to double check you have done the following steps.

But before responding, I figured I'd try re-installing TrackIR once again since it's the quickest thing to do. And low and behold it suddenly started working!

Looks like there is an ordering issue or some such; (i.e. perhaps installing TrackIR under some circumstances (busted simconnect?) leaves it broken until the circumstance is fixed and THEN TrackIR is reinstalled). Perhaps you should adjust your list to do the TrackIR reinstall last?
Note my problems were in no way related to a previous version of the TrackIR software, since I only just got it and 4.1.029 is the only version I've ever installed (I never put in the CD, went straight to the downloaded version).
It's too bad that whatever went wrong with the TrackIR install was/is going undiagnosed (assuming that at least some of the other posters problems are similar to mine). It'd be nice to have the software fixed instead of just blindly reinstalling it when it fails. It was definitely messed up.
Perhaps related, before this last reinstall, attempting to exit the TrackIR program would cause it to hang and require it to be killed via the task manager. Now it exits cleanly. All I did was un/re-install; no reboots no other software started/stoped (except FSX of course).

Thanks for the info

Would you be able to walk me through the steps to try this suggestion:
"Some customers have had some success installing IPv6 then uninstalling it, as this causes the TCP/IP stack to reinstall."
Also, do you think I should try what Peskie did -- repair Simmconnect first, and then reinstall the TrackIR software?
Thanks, FredM

Re: Can't get Trackir to work on FSX
Note my symtoms differed from yours. I had no blue light while running FSX, ie TrackIR wasn't recognizing FSX was running at all. From an earlier post you say you have the blue light. Also, do you think I should try what Peskie did -- repair Simmconnect first, and then reinstall the TrackIR software?
That said, after my troubles I'd suggest that if you've changed anything ('repaired' simconnect, etc) then perhaps trying a full TrackIR uninstall (and removing the dir) and reinstall couldn't hurt (and it's quick). Of course I defer to the Natural Point guys and whatever Vincent says

Yea, the blue light, indicates an issue somewhere else, besides the TrackIR software.
