Track IR 3, Vista and FS9

Post by DescendDescend »

Just re-installed FS9 in Vista. Small problem in that FS9 does not seem to be detected by Track IR when FS9 has started. Works okay in FSX and Lock On. The FSX/FS9 combo worked okay in XP.

Also the control program refuses to run at Vista start up even though the option is ticked. Software version 4.1 build 30.

I did uninstall and re-install the software to no obvious benefit.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Regards

1 - The registry settings for Vista, are different than the ones for XP, so currently you would need to pot the TrackIR shortcut in the startup folder to get it to start on boot-up.

2 - FS9 - Have you installed any add-on applications?

3 - Does the blue LEd activate on the unit, when you start a flight?

Thanks for your prompt response,

1) Done thank you. Will check on next reboot.

2) FS9 has PMDG 747, FSUIPC, ASV and a few scenery add-ons. They were all okay in xp.

3) No blue light on FS9. Blue light on FSX.

First place I would start is a clean install of both the TrackIR software, and FS9 - try it without the add-on applications first -

Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following:
a. Click "Start"
b. Click on the "Control Panel"
c. Click "Add/Remove Programs"
d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove"
e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it.
f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint
g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location,

Hi Vincent.

I just done all of that. It still did not work. However I found that for FS9 to work, Track IR needs to be set to run as Administrator. Run as Administrator does not need to be set for FSX. Hope that helps for the future.

Strange how no-one else has this problem. Perhaps FS9/Vista/TrackIR combo is quite rare.

Maybe not that rare, as most Vista users are logging is as the Admin?
