I've had a strange problem for the past two or three weeks. It's only happened about 5 times, but it's happened twice today so I'm getting a bit concerned.
The mouse pointer just stops moving in one direction. It stays in the same spot vertically and only moves left and right in a straight line. Or vice versa. It's not always the same spot, and it's not always the same axis. I have to restart SmartNAV for it to work again.
The tracking shows my actual movement, and there are no stray objects.
I'm using Windows XP SP2, current on software updates, SmartNAV 3 EG SN 19596, software version 3.20 build 30. (It happened on the previous version, too -- I upgraded to build 30 after the first time it happened.) USB foot pedals for clicking, another pedal plugged into the SmartNAV for pausing.
So far I haven't seen anything in common between the events - I can't reproduce it at will.
Any ideas?

Re: Stops moving in one direction
It can't be. When it happened, I grabbed the mouse and checked the Tracking window, and the only thing the SmartNav could see was my dot.
Also, as soon as I restart the software it works fine, and that's without me leaving my chair or doing anything that would eliminate any stray IR light sources.
I'll capture video of it next time it happens.

Are you plugging directly into the system, or using a USB hub of any kind?

Directly into the system.
