It's dead, Vincent!

Post by pj_3 »

TIR4, v4.1 build 30. xxxxxx.
Been playing with it for two days, but no further ahead - time to call in the Big Guns!

Had it since Feb 2006 - greatest addon we have, Vincent, and (of course) I can't fly without it.

It's been flawless - FS9 or FSX, but four days ago in the middle of an Eaglesoft Citation II IFR flight, Denver to Salt Lake I experienced a series of "strong instabilities", separated by four or five 5 - 10 second stable periods. The unit felt quite warm, sitting atop a 21" Gateway LCD monitor. It recovered ok, and Friday I did a similar flight, but to Aspen without issue. I had trouble with VoxATC not recognising the flight plan the second flight, and eventually cured it by reinstalling (Aerosoft's) Aspen.

After this the VoxATC recognised the Aspen FP, and so I began the flight. Halfway through TrackIR jittered again and then just plain quit. Since then I have removed it, cleaned the registry, re-installed about five times, manually removed the HID entries in the registry, changed the USB port (system port), rolled back XP to for or five days ago, even tried the "fix USB" file from your site, and generally went through the forum here till my eyes began to cross.

The head screen is ok, but no movement: the axis edit-settings screen is normal, but single red lines only, and the tracking screen is blank, (just the "settings" box displayed), with "No Data" displayed in the main screen.

When initially on with no game - there is a dim red led on top: a dim blue at bottom, blinking every five seconds or so. When launched the red led turns bright yellow for two - three seconds, and then goes back to dim red. Blue stays as before. The F8, F9, F12 hot keys can be assigned without issue, I use a (Logitech MX Revolution) mouse button for pause: this works, and changes "No Data" to "Disable" and back. The top light becomes bright red at that time.

I believe we've got a hardware failure of some kind, Vincent. Where do we go from here, please?

Many thanks,

pj
