Motionbuilder streaming and poping

Post by seanboyette »

Ok guys, I think I already know the answer - but I wanted to ask to get your opinion.
I have Motionbuilder and Arena running, and I am able to successfully drive an actor - I am hovering right at 40% CPU and 2 gigs of the 4 gigs of memory.
but I am getting some popping, and slight jerkyness in MB, I know that i am certainly pushing the envelope, but it works GREAT!
my question is, I currently have a 8500 with 256 megs of memory. Should I upgrade to something like an 513 8800 or the newest nvidia - will that help?

Its great to see motion previewed on a character!

If MB and Arena are both running on the same machine, it might be CPU limited even though its not running the system at full load. The apps are trying to stream and capture data, there might be some timing issues. This could be tested by streaming to another machine and seeing if the popping still occurs.
