camera switches off too often

Post by mil »

Every 30 - 40 minutes of work some (1 or 2) cameras switch off. The system continues to work but capturing accuracy is down abruptly. We are forced to close Arena, to unplug all hubs and plug it again (then take rithuals with windows messages of drivers finding). It takes a time and annoying.

We thought cameras had stoped for lack of energy and distributed 12 cameras via 3 hubs (4 cameras per hub) but the problem is still occuring :(

Hello:

Is it always the same cameras, or does it change?

We have heard of this happening, but the customer moved to a different computer and the problem went away. Could you try a different computer?

Also, make sure your cables are strain reliefed. If there is tension on the USB cord, it can cause the jack to not seat well and can cause a camera to reset.

It should only find the USB drivers once, when you initially plug them in, if it continues to do it, there is something going on, I think Vince might now more about that issue.

We have checked with 4 computers. All have the same problem with cameras stopping.

It's not the same cameras every time. We have changed cameras between each other, but no dependences have found.

USB cables are pluged deep.
Do you mean tension could be cause even if cable pulls connector under 90 degree angle?

In our version hubs are hanged on usb cables pulled in different sides.

Tomorrow I could send a photos of our installation.

Yes, please send a photo if possible.

You want to make sure that the cables have no strain on the cameras at all, that you tie them to the mounting pole in some way to relieve all stress.

The more I understand about the problem, the more I think it is a power issue with the USB hubs, perhaps you are using an adapter of some kind to adapt to 120V?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.
