Everything was working correctly till today. I have TIR 4:pro on 4.1.034 drivers. I don't start TIR software at startup cause it takes long to load (let's say 15-20 seconds). I run it on per need basis.
So I turn on machine, run TIR and it doesn't start. Process manager shows 50% cpu usage (one of two cores) on TrackIR.exe process and about 20MB memory taken. Green/blue dot is blinking as usually when there is no software. But the software do start. After 6 minutes! With a clock in my hand. Since now on it takes it 5-6 minutes to start. I couldn't brake anything with my system since I don't work from administrator account normally. When I've changed to admin it behaves the same so user registry files are not faulty as well. I've removed the software, run search in regedit on naturalpoint and trackir, removed everything, unplugged usb and installed 4.1.035. Rebooted, plugged TIR, installed driver automatically, rebooted, run the software. 6 minutes... After that it does work. During that 6 minutes it occupies whole core.
EDIT: Found that. Seems you got some bug there (or at least it was in 4.1.034). My Deafult_Profiles.xml file has 3.5MB.
""
line is repeated so many times that the files is that big. This file doesn't look like fs corrupted cause there would be trash inside, your software had to produce it at some point.
And reinstalling didn't help cause despite me selecting that I don't want to backup my profiles (did that by hand before uninstalling) they were left in place so new software I installed run on that 3.5MB file as well. And it runs now immediately, not 15-20 sec as written on the beginning so I can assume this file grew a little before as well.
Were you aware of this bug?
EDIT2: BTW, you should make TIR software multi user friendly. Not everyone works as an admin. I have to give my user permisions to "profiles" folder and "settings.xml" file. It shouldn't modify any files in "program files" but support per user settings. You don't write professional software this way. Same with registry modification on LOCAL_MACHINE, options in "Options" menu.
Software takes ages to start
Re: Software takes ages to start
There can be some corruptioon on the profiles, hence the file that was larger than 4KB in size. Any file larger than 4 KB should be deleted.
