Dead TrackIR

Post by Cheburashka »

Hello Vincent, I just received my TIR4 pro combo yesterday and i think it may be dead. I installed latest software off the website and then plugged in the TIR and... nothing. I have tried everything i could think of - isolating it, plugging into different USB port, plugging in directly to PC and through a hub. reinstalling with a cleaned registry, reinstalling to a different directory, running the fix - nothing, no response, like its completely dead.

the interesting thing is that i can see all 3 lights glowing on the clip, meaning there is power, but the receiving piece itself seems dead.

another thing is that if i leave TIR plugged in then after about 10-15 minutes i get a popup saying device malfunctioned and Windows couldnt recognise it.

TIR is not being recognized. There are no lights of any kind on the receiver at all, never were.

Thanx in advance.

I have the same problem as well Vincent. My TrackIR 4 Pro and my Track Clip Pro both appear to be dead and completely non-functional. What should I do/Who do I contact for support?

Please email the issue, to support, with the following information.

What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.

Could you send us a copy of the Setupapi.log file?
It should be located in the C:\Windows folder

Have you tried the device on another system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Could you attach a screen shot of your Device Manager (showing USB), and tracking screen (TrackIR software -> View -> Tracking)?
