New Install Problems

Post by Jim H »

Hi,
I can't get my new Track IR4 with TrackClip Pro to work. With apologies, I'll list my steps below:

I'm running XP Pro 32. After an unsuccessful initial install, I carried out all the troubleshooting procedures in the manual.
Installed the registry fix.
Found Natural Point Devices in Device Manager.
No unknown devices in USB Contollers.
TIR now working perfectly! Delighted!! Late now so close down
Boot up next morning, and plug in all other USB devices.
All devices recognised
Start TIR - Green led comes on briefly then off.
Status - No Data
Press F9 - Red led - disabled.

Can someone help me from here? Please?

Are you connected directly to the PC, or using a hub?

Have you tried moving USB ports?

Hi Vincent,

In desperation, I went through the whole procedure yet again, this time being careful to use a different port.

Why another of eight ports on the computer made a difference escapes me, but all seems to be working properly now.

Hi Vincent,

Following my last message reporting success on a different usb port (direct on the computer), I'm now back to square one.

On starting TIR, I get a green led for a couple of seconds then nothing.
Status: No data
Pressing F9 toggles the red led on and off.

I'm now completely exasperated with this device. When it works I'm totally delighted with the experience in FSX and desparate for it to continue to work, but I can do no more to make it work. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled several times, according to instructions, as well as moving usb ports.

Is it possible I have a faulty device?

Hoping for a solution, Jim H.

Hi again Victor,

I find that if I unplug and replug the usb connection, I get the device to work for a few minutes only, followed by no data.
The leds in the Trackclip Pro are lit, but the red light is very dim. Is this normal?
There seems to be something very wrong here, and it doesn't seem to be the software. For your information, my motherboard is a brand new Asus P5Q Pro.

Hi yet again, Victor,

I seem to be talking to myself here. Latest info:

I've unchecked the box for power saving on the root USB devices in Device Manager.
It made no difference.
I've talked to Bob at RC Simulations.
He suggested the purchase of a USB2 card to supply a completely new set of circuitry for the TIR.
The new card is installed and working.
I've tried the TIR in two of the new ports.
The device works for a few minutes on each, and then goes dead.
Bob is now going to replace the unit.
I hope the arrival of a new unit will end this very frustrating experience.

You are not alone.... I have exactly the same problems. Short lighting up of the green LED and then... no data. :(

I have got the TrackIR 4 PER two days ago and cannot use it.

I have worked through all procedures, have tried out the Tracker on three (!) different PCs (two with Vista 32 and one with WinXp SP3). Always with the same result. Either the software is not suitable for it, or the Tracker is broken.

It was a hardware problem, as you suspected in your mail.

The TrackIR 4 has been exchanged by the trader against a new one.

All functions perfectly now. Thank you for your kind help.
