A few pre-buy questions

Post by Quboid »

I'm considering buying a TrackIR4 set with the click. What headsets does it clip on to - specifically, does it fit any/all of Speed-Link Medusa 5.1 Home, Razer Barracuda and the Zalman ZM-RS6F. I'm probably going to buy the Barracuda but I'm not certain yet and this factors in. I can't make out how it clips from any info on the website.

Secondly, presumably it has a power lead that has to run all the way from my head to the USB socket? How long is this cable?

Also, is there a backup way it can track if I don't want to wear a headset, such as the vector that clipped onto a cap?

Hi
From what I can see of the headsets you should not have any trouble with the Zalman cans. I can vouch for the Zelmans as I have a pair and the clip works just fine. The Speed-Link should work OK too. All you need is a solid section that the can's them selves sit on (The bit that slides to make the adjustments.)

I can not guarantee the Barracuda though as it has a second strap that sit's on the top of your head. The clip on the Active Tracker needs about 15-20mm. The clip cannot stay still on a plain 'wire' mounting like the Grado series ( http://www.gradolabs.com/frameset_main.htm ) Normally I use the Grades and use http://www.edimensional.com/index.php?c ... 7f3d863ce5 when I need my TrackIR.

All 3 should work, from just looking at the images.

The TrackIR 4 bundle still comes with the standard TrackClip (vector clip), in caser you don't want to wear the headset.
